First, please review these four questions:

  1. Had you applied for an apartment at any other location on/around the inquiry date?
  2. Had you signed as a Co-signor/Guarantor for anyone else's application on the inquiry date?
  3. Was your lease up for renewal on/around the inquiry date?
  4. Did you apply for employment on/around the inquiry date?

**If you answered Yes to any of the above questions, that is most likely the reason RentGrow pulled your Credit Bureau Report.  Ask the property/company that you applied to if they use RentGrow's services.

**If you answered No to all of the above questions, this may mean that your personal identifying information was fraudulently used by a person applying for residency at an apartment community that uses our services.  Such an entry may also mean that the credit bureaus or the apartment community have made a typographical or other error resulting in the entry on your credit report. RentGrow will work with you to get this matter cleared up in a timely manner.  Please click the below link for an Inquiry Dispute Form (which includes directions on how to file your dispute).

We also recommend, if fraud is suspected, that you ask each bureau to place a fraud alert on your credit report(s) so that you and others can become quickly aware of further attempted use of one's credit data.

Here are toll-free telephone numbers to report issues of potential fraud to the Bureaus:

  • TransUnion 800.680.7289
  • Equifax 800.525.6285
  • Experian 888.397.3742
